Vomit

I rarely come across texts I can't, or won't read. One page into R. L. Peter's Chapter 13 from Getting What you Came For and I'm already writing a blog instead of reading it. It elicits a very visceral reaction from me. The prescriptions are these: "appear serious about your work," "project goodwill," "invite her of him [your advisor] to dinner [...] this is a political and symbolic occasion that demonstrates the honor with which you regard your advisor." I cannot simply sit on my couch and read this. I won't.
