Lawrence Weiner: We're Gonna Be Close
You'll want to start here, getting a sense of all the bad (both in content and judgment) reviews surrounding Weiner's current retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
You're then going to want to play a little click-ful poetry game.
Then realize the awesomeness of his huge writing, boasting even bigger than Gertrude Stein's, literally allowing for about five words in a line.
You then might want to stroke his beard, just to get a sense of the man.
Note that he's in real good with Benjamin H. D. Buchloh.
****Please note this means that he is legit.
Then have in the back of your mind conceptual art in the 1960s (including happenings) and my favorite living poetry group, the Oulipo.
Then realize that this man is being shown in a museum.
Now you can look, oh sorry, read.
